It is a bit belated, but needed to share my Mother’s Day gifts with you. Two cool things about these pieces: both are personalized for my dear Momma, plus the earrings & cut copper name tags are skills that I teach in my Jewelry 101 class!
The copper beaded earrings are a simple 2-in-1 chain maille technique – these ones in particular I wanted them to look like bunches of grapes. This style of earring takes an hour or so for a quick beginner, and is a project I teach during class.
The copper name tags are cut from sheet copper, hammered, sanded, filed, stamped and have a patina applied. lots of work required on these tags. Several simple cold metalworking techniques are explored on a project like this, and also some plier work. Special details – each name plate is accompanied by a little metal heart, and a beaded dangle with both child’s birthstones. Making name tags is a project I teach during class to educate everyone in these techniques.
I’m really enjoying making jewelry again- keep an eye out for more handmade things at the shop!
