the cable knit bracelet
this piece is still in progress, but well on its way! I handspun this bamboo top into a silky smooth yarn earlier this fall as a sample for my fiber arts class. Couldn’t wait to do something with my lovely bamboo handspun, but only the other day thought of a great use- winter jewelry! For those who love softness, nothing could be nicer on your skin than bamboo. Love the creamy color, and plan to add some simple chain maille to the ends, and make it a proper bracelet/cuff. I think next time, I’ll knit in Swarovski crystals, or small silver seed beads.
more about bamboo fiber
I keep talking about bamboo- and rightfully so, I’m obsessed with this plant fiber. Spinning it by itself is a joy, like silk, but actually easier, and less expensive. It dyes well, and is a great blending fiber with wool. Bamboo fiber is naturally anti-bacterial, UV protective, biodegradable, breathable, strong, flexible, soft and has a luxe, silk sheen. There is NO memory in 100% bamboo yarn, it has considerable drape, so keep that in mind when you try it.
