Get a taste of five of the mediums many Fine Craft artisans create with: Paper, Metal, Fiber, Reeds & Glass.
You may think it impossible, but in this class you will weave baskets with ancient techniques, make your own paper, try out a form of paper sculpture, learn basic jewelry technique and sculpture with wire, make and dye fabric with raw & man made materials, and even make a glass paperweight!
Through 15 weekly classes, you will learn about each of the mediums, their properties, limitations, and uses- as well as the historical significance, practicality, also the creative masters of each medium. Not only will you learn valuable information, develop appreciation for art and the simple everyday objects that surround you, but you will experience each medium through weekly experiments in and out of class! This class is incredibly hands-on — I work to offer you the most creative freedom possible, while developing your skills in each medium.
There is at least 1 field trip in this class, to Manchester Hot Glass, to experience the art of glassblowing firsthand. The Final project of this class involves a minimum of three techniques learned in class; a very good opportunity for you to try mixed media.
If you already have skills in any one of the topics, I can further develop your skills, and introduce you to others; I enjoy tailoring topics for advanced skill level students.

I have to say that Trish is one of the best instructors I have had. She is very enthusiastic about what she is going to teach, therefore it makes students want to learn about her subjects. – Fine Craft Student, 2011
